ELITE TORTOISE HOUSING

Currently we offer four sizes of tortoise housing. All the houses are the same width and height, however they increase in length as they get bigger. All the doors are the same size and being top hinged form a canopy over the entrance. 

AESTHETICS: 

Our tortoise houses are all clad in our own distinctive brick effect walls and tile effect roofs.

INSULATION:

The Tortoise house walls, roofs and floor are fully insulated, with the equivalent of 2” thick polystyrene.

FLOOR:

All the tortoise house floors are from marine grade ply, so resistant to damp and urine.

ACCESS:

As standard access to the tortoise house is via the hinged right roof panel; however, we can hinge the left roof on request.

LAMP:

All our tortoise housing has the headroom to accommodate a lamp. Power lead and plug access is via an adapted breather set into the back gable.

DELIVERY:

Our tortoise housing prices include delivery (UK Mainland, Ex the Highlands) and they are delivered fully built. 

OPTIONAL EXTRAS

RAMP: 

To give your tortoise a ‘leg up’.

DRAFT CURTAINS:

The door opening can be fitted with clear heavy strip curtains that thwart draughts, without reducing the light in the tortoise house.

DIVIDING WALL:

A wall with an offset arch cut-out that subdivides the tortoise house to make two rooms. 

BASKING PORCH: 

An UltraViolet light permeable porch that gives shelter, but does not filter out the all-important UV light.

BURROWING BASEMENT:

Tortoise gets an indoor soil pit. Fill with top soil ( 14cm deep), locate the tortoise house onto the Burrowing Basement. The wire mesh base thwarts tortoises burrowing out and rodents digging in. (The house floor requires removing)

TORTOISE RUN WITH UV BASKING AREA: 

A 1.2m x 2m run, made in the same distinctive Granddad Rob style to match the tortoise house, that docks to the tortoise house via a docking frame (supplied). When facing the house, the entire right side roof lifts for access, (we can swap over) . Built into both the left and right roof that are adjacent to the house is UltraViolet light permeable windows that gives shelter, but is up to 90% efficient at passing the all-important UV light.

SECONDARY TREATMENT:

Our housing is made using pressure treated timbers, so protected against rot. This secondary treatment forms a water shedding ‘overcoat’ over the tortoise house. Therefore stops water dwelling around the board joints, hence we call it overcoat. Overcoat is animal safe, it can be applied to damp wood, it dries clear, so can be liberally applied without leaving visible brush or run marks.
